Sh*t That’s Giving Me Life | Volume 3
Travel goals, entertaining essentials and my estate sale jackpot!
1. Jacob Elordi and Olivia Jade’s Travel Outfits is quite literally COUPLE. GOALS. The hat, scarf, headphones combo?! His and her Bottega Veneta bags!? Chef’s kiss! This is going on my 2025 vision board.
2. One of mine and Marco’s favorite weekend activities is hitting up local estate sales. I’ve been slowly collecting issues, but when we stumbled across this 30 year Architectural Digest Haul I felt like I truly hit the jackpot.
3. I have been obsessed with making
’s recipe for a really nice fish. The next day I mix this Momofuku Chili Crunch with rice and the leftovers for the ultimate salmon bowl experience and it’s just absolutely delish. TBH I go through one of these jars a month. I am obsessed.4. The J. Crew Catalogue is back and I couldn’t be happier! 90’s J. Crew has become essential moodboard content (I believe thanks entirely to
). The Demi Moore cover has already become my entire personality as we move into fall.5. One of my absolute favorite things about hiking in the Dolomites was the food at the Refugio’s. A core memory was formed after hiking Seceda and then sitting down to enjoy a tin of anchovies with curled butter (more on that below), homemade bread and delicious glass of wine (picture below). Having been influenced by the one and only
, anchovies have become a pantry staple for me. I cannot get enough. Tinned fish forever.6. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are All Fours by Miranda July has popped up on your feed somewhere. This was a WILD read and I cannot wait to discuss it with my mother’s book club (where I will be a guest this month). Having been hit by a lot of loss over the summer, I was particular struck by this quote…
“Generally speaking, when real pain was involved, there was no reason. No one to hold accountable. No apology. Pain just was; it radiated with no narrative and no end.”
7. I’ve been going down a ceramics rabbit hole lately and fell absolutely in love with Bonnie Marie Smith and her ceramic heads.
8. Nostalgic for a time before we were all so connected via our phones, This New York Times Writer trekked across Switzerland, guided by locals’ hand drawn maps.
9. There are few (if any) brands I find more perfect than Gohar World. What Laila Gohar is doing to bring whimsy into everyday entertaining is nothing short of inspiring. I have had my eye on her selection of Antique Coquillor’s for years and patiently await the day where I will be able to curl butter tableside for my guests. And don’t even get me started on her Swan Tureens…I die.
That’s all for this week. I’ll be sharing about our recent trip to Italy and hiking the Dolomites over the next couple of months. If you have any specific questions be sure to drop them in the comments. xo Alex

I’m impatiently waiting for All Fours to become available at my library/Libby. I might have to cave and buy it.
I want to read all fours so badly!
