Checking In: Villa Flor, Engadine
Art and nature lovers alike will find a very special home here, on the edge of the Swiss National Park.
Hi friends. I am trying something new…a short and sweet deep dive into some of my favorite hotels, B&Bs and vacation rentals. We shall call this series Checking In. Do we find this interesting? Let me know in the comments. Xo, A.
In Short… Charming and anything but ordinary - the Villa Flor in S-chanf was an delight from beginning to end. Art and nature lovers alike will find a very special home here, on the edge of the Swiss National Park.
The Vibes… Art plays a major role at the Villa Flor. The walls are filled with works from well-known swiss and international artists. This thoughtfully curated guesthouse is much loved by artists, writers and design aficionados alike. In the evening guests can socialize in the cozy red salon or relax in the extensive library. A stark contrast to the glitz and glam of St. Moritz, Villa Flor feels like you are staying at your impossibly chic and eccentric aunt’s house.
The Rooms…The most comfortable bed we slept in during our time in Switzerland. Our room was generous in size and had beautiful light with views of the mountains. Each of the seven rooms at Villa Flor is individually furnished with family heirlooms, flea market treasures, vintage lamps and design classics.
The Food…Perhaps my favorite thing about staying at Villa Flor is that the owner Ladina is a FOODIE. She had the most wonderful recommendations for restaurants in the area and did not hesitate to make dinner reservations for all 3 nights we were staying — including our favorite meal of our trip…The Colani Bistrot.
Villa Flor offers a hearty breakfast featuring bakery delights from the village, cheeses from the mountains and eggs from the local farm. We finished our evening sipping on a digestif and chatting with other guests in the red salon.
Date of Stay… September 2022
What do y’all think? Do we like short and sweet deep dives on lesser known hotels? Is there a particular hotel I should check out? let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading! xo Alex
